Green Leaf Media is the leading provider of environmentally-friendly, digital publishing products and
solutions in the South African market today. Green Leaf Media actively campaigns its clients and
suppliers to become part of the drive towards a healthier planet through digital communication.

After years of software development, research and various local and international associations, we
can finally offer our digital publishing products and services to external companies offering an
environmentally-friendly alternative publishing solution to print media.

In an effort to contribute to a healthy planet, Green Leaf Media offsets all international servers,
hosting and electronics through Carbon Clear in the United Kingdom.

Our Vision

Our vision is to enlighten and influence other companies to address the matter of a healthier planet
in their companies, with their staff and with their clients. Thus, creating a “chain of events” to make
an impact on the environment. Our aim is to lessen the environmental impact of printing.
We believe it is not only the responsibility of the Government and Leading Companies, to make
a difference to our global crisis, but also the responsibility of each and every member of the Public.

And while there will always be a desire for printed publications, we want to cut out the unnecessary
use of trees (paper) and other manufacturing resources, to help reduce carbon footprints. But it’s
not just the act of felling trees; the whole process of printing and distribution is harmful:

- Logging - disturbs wildlife & uses fuel
- Pulp mills - use natural resources & create pollution
- Transportation - creates pollution
- Printing - uses natural resources and chemicals
- Waste - cleaning and recycling uses resources & energy

So it’s not difficult to appreciate the environmental benefits of Green Leaf Media’s Digital Publications.
But as hard as we try, we cannot be completely energy free.

Our Environmental Responsibility

Our international servers that process, host and serve our Digital Publications consume energy.
So to make sure the our Publications is as carbon neutral as possible, we completely offset all our
CO2 emissions through Carbon Clear UK, a leading carbon management company who invest in
projects that improve living standards in developing countries, whilst providing global climate benefits
with clean energy projects and reforestation initiatives.

On the local front we make use of Companies whose Services and Products, share the same vision
...for example: We only fly with Kulula who is already offsetting their Air Travel Carbon Footprint.
Apple Mac computers which consumes much less energy than an standard PC, etc.

Again we can only reduce as much as we can and offset the rest. We calculate and neutralize our
local Carbon Footprint through FTFA. Food and Trees for Africa designed a Carbon Calculator
based on SA standards which can help you calculate your Road & Air Travel, Electricity and Paper
usage footprints. They then give you the opportunity to offset your carbon footprint by planting
trees or by supporting them through sponsorship on various local projects.

The Future

We believe that we can be instrumental in building a better future for generations to come. This can be achieved through the conservation of biological diversity, commitment to the sustainable use of renewable resources and the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption. It is only through a unified effort with government, corporate South Africa, communities and responsible individuals that this will be achieved. Our lifestyle publication ecoCentric Magazine will focus on these issues and slowly show the public they themselves can make a difference and that they already have, through certain buying decisions. We want to reconnect people with nature, getting them outdoors and caring for themselves, the planet and the animals ... a healthier you = a healthier planet.
